about

This album represents a period of transition - in lots of ways - but musically speaking, reaching a point of dissatisfaction with writing music and finding a greater connection with improvising. Most of the time this would be undocumented, but occasionally I'd hit record. I'm not a jazz player by any stretch of the imagination, although bits of this are "jazzy". Lots of it is atonal, although I literally have no clue what chords I'm playing in theoretical terms...I'm just responding to the shape and sound...and basically getting lucky sometimes!

All of the tracks apart from 1 and 8 are completely improvised with no editing, with the exception of the two "Fuse" tracks which each have two separate improvs "fused" together. Track 1 is an improvised piano part from the song "Passing Wave" from the Baber/Wileman album with Richard Wileman. Track 8 was written quickly, based on an improv, and was only played in full this one time with the structure and ending being improvised. It's also the only track with some subtle synth overdubs.
